Clarification of Judging

Skate La Grande is following the 2021-2022 Rulebook with only those changes U.S. Figure Skating approved with effective dates before the competition:

  • New Preliminary Well-Balanced Free Skate will be increased to 2:00 minutes +/- 10 seconds, and the step sequence will need to utilize the full ice surface.
  • Intermediate Only – current or new Intermediate Spins will be accepted and judged appropriately.

All other U.S. Figure Skating approved changes have an effective date of 7/1/2022 or later and will NOT be used for 2022 Skate La Grande.

2022 Skate la Grande

WE ARE BACK!!!

Yes, we will be holding the Skate La Grande competition this year on the weekend of June 24th-26th.

Local Organizing Committee (LOC) forming now with its Chair, Wendy Smith.

Announcements, volunteer opportunities, etc will all be coming in the following weeks/months.

2021 Skate La Grande Cancelled

Planning and organizing a competition takes upwards of six months. Because of the COVID uncertainties and a lack of available experienced volunteer leadership, this planning was not kicked off at the beginning of the year. We are all glad we are headed in the correct direction in San Diego County as restrictions are eased and the vaccinations are being adopted. However, with far less time to prepare, we would absolutely need competition experienced volunteers. This small pool of people have moved, moved on with skaters in college, or simply too busy volunteering in other ways.

The conclusion by the SDFSC Board is that we will wait another year to hold our club competition.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Response

The SDFSC Board of Directors hopes each of our figure skating families is healthy and safe in these difficult times. Like everyone else, we are monitoring the directions provided by the state, county, and city officials and looking forward to the day when we can safely return to the ice.

When we do return, things will come back slowly and differently. It will take time for skaters to return to where they were in skills and abilities. It will take time for coaches to get to all their students and have them ready for the next test and/or competition. Taking all of this into consideration, the board has decided to cancel the 2020 Skate La Grande competition.

We hope to see you all in 2021
